Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda Observes 78th Independence Day
Jharsuguda�:Vedanta Aluminium, India�s leading producer of aluminium, proudly observed the nation�s 78th Independence Day with a patriotic ceremony at its operations in Jharsuguda.� Sunil Gupta, COO – Vedanta Aluminium and CEO – Vedanta Jharsuguda, unfurled the national flag and paid tribute to India�s freedom fighters and armed forces. Taking forward the company�s celebration of the �freedom to work� in the context of Independence Day,� Gupta also inaugurated anew Driver Management Centre at Banjari, a modern facility equipped with washrooms, canteen, rest rooms, training centres and drinking water, which will help cater to the needs of nearly 400 commercial vehicle drivers daily.
The new facility represents a significant enhancement in the support infrastructure provided to drivers, acknowledging their critical role in enabling the company’s logistics and operations. The Driver Management Centre is equipped with modern and well-maintained washrooms, ensuring that drivers have access to clean and hygienic facilities along with a spacious canteen. Recognizing the importance of adequate rest and recuperation, the centre also includes comfortable rest rooms designed for their relaxation and downtime between shifts. A standout feature is its dedicated training facility, which offers specialized programs on fleet management and safety to enhance driving skills, safety protocols, and overall professional development. This addition reflects Vedanta’s commitment to not only addressing the immediate needs of its drivers but also investing in their long-term growth and effectiveness.
The Independence Day celebrations themed �Viksit Bharat� also marked the culmination of the weeklong Security Week 2024 session, which was marked by a series of engaging and impactful programs designed to instil safe and secure behaviour among all employees, business partners, stakeholders and community members. Major initiatives during the Security Week 2024 included a Mann ki Baat, Sarathi Ke Sath: An awareness session for fleet drivers, Nanhe Fariste: a session for kids related to self-defence and security tips, Spreading Smiles: a community engagement initiative to connect with specially abled kids at Brundamal School, a Youth Connect with NCC Cadets and a mass plantation drive -Matrivan �Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam�. The celebration not only reinforced safety behaviour among stakeholders but also fostered a strong sense of community and well-being.
