TRL Krosaki Refractories Limited has launched its new CSR initiative, Project “DRISHTI”, in collaboration with the renowned eye institute Trilochan Netralaya of Sambalpur. This ambitious project aims to provide comprehensive eye check-up services and necessary spectacles to needy school students of Belpahar and Bhikampali areas for free of cost. A total of 249 students from Belpahar Refractories High School were provided eye test services by the Optometrists out of which 25 students from needy families were provided free spectacles.
Niranjan Dash, Vice President (Safety, Sustainability and Administration), TRL Krosaki inaugurated the programme in the presence of other guests like Dr. Sushant Jagdala, Eye Specialist, TRL Krosaki Hospital, Dr. Jugal Kishore Bhoi, Block Public Health Officer, Lakhanpur, Asutosh Behera, Project Manager, NRHM, Kailash Chandra Pattanaik, Headmaster, B. R. High School, CSR Staffs of the company and the team of Optometrists from Trilochan Netralaya.
Eye-related issues are generally ignored by the children and by their parents as well. If not detected and corrective actions are not taken at an early stage, these issues often develop into bigger problems and in worst cases children lose their eyesight permanently. Belpahar and Lakhanpur areas being interior areas and because of the absence of quality eyecare centres, people lack awareness of eye health, especially child eye health.
CSR Department of TRL Krosaki has partnered with Trilochan Netralaya, Sambalpur for conducting eye camps in 12 schools in the Belpahar and Bhikampali areas during the year 2024-25 and provide free spectacles to needy students. Eye screening and tests for identification of eye health issues like Myopia, Hyper Meropia and Astigmatism are being conducted under this project.
