Delegation from Jharsuguda Hockey Association Meets with Sports Minister

Jharsuguda : A delegation from the Jharsuguda Hockey Association, accompanied by Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, met with the Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj in Bhubaneswar to discuss the development of sports in the district. The meeting, held at the minister’s residence, was led by Jeeban Mohanty, Vice-President of the Hockey Association of Odisha.

During the meeting, the delegation presented souvenirs representing the Jharsuguda District Hockey Association to Minister Suryabanshi Suraj. Jeeban Mohanty put forward several key requests for enhancing sports facilities in Jharsuguda. Among the proposals were the construction of a sports hostel and the establishment of an advanced training system at Eklavya School in Kirmira Block. Additionally, Mohanty requested the installation of an AstroTurf hockey field on the premises of Banjari School in Lakhanpur Block.

Minister Suryabanshi Suraj assured the delegation that he would personally look into their demands, emphasizing his commitment to the development of sports infrastructure in the district. This assurance brings hope to the sports enthusiasts and young athletes in Jharsuguda, who have been seeking improved facilities for better training and development.

Other notable members present during the discussion included Saroj Kumar Singh, Anant Kumar Sharma, Basudev Sethi, and senior member of the Hockey Association Abhishek Lath. Their participation highlights the collective effort of the local community to promote and support sports in Jharsuguda.

The meeting marks a significant step towards advancing the sports culture in the district, with hopes that the proposed developments will soon become a reality, providing better opportunities and facilities for aspiring athletes in Jharsuguda
