OPGC launches LMV Driving Training for periphery youth as a CSR initiative

Odisha Power Generation Corporation has launched LMV driving training programme for youth residing in the periphery of IB Thermal Power Station with an aim to equip them with skills required to earn gainful employment. This programme is a part of livelihood and Skill development programme run by the CSR wing of OPGC.

The program was inaugurated at 10 AM today at the CSR Skill Development Centre located in the ITPS Banharpali campus. Dr Ratikanta Dash, Head (HR & Admin), inaugurated the event and spoke on the importance of skill development initiatives, particularly for unemployed youths residing in peripheral villages. He highlighted how such programs shall not only equip the youth with tangible skills but also pave the way for enhanced employment opportunities. Tapas Panda, Asst. Manager (CSR) gave the opening speech, introducing the guests and briefing on the programme. Himansu Behera, the Sr. Manager (Corp. Comm. & CSR), further elucidated the objectives of the program, emphasizing its potential. Among others, Sr. Manager (Security) Onkar Pattnaik, Sr. Asst. Manager(HR) Anshuman Satpathy were present. Members of OPGC CSR team Ramiyan Chhatria, Biren Bisi and Rajendra Sa co-ordinated the event.

Under this CSR initiative, OPGC is training 60 youths hailing from six GPs such as Telenpali, Kushraloi, Kumbharbandh, Pondri, Tilia and Remenda for a duration of 30 days at 2 venues, Telenpali & Tilia. For this purpose, OPGC has engaged a professional driving training institute i.e. Nag & Sons Motor Driving Training Academy, Sambalpur. Upon successful completion of the training program and passing the examination conducted by the Regional Transport Office (RTO), they will be facilitated to obtain valid driving licenses.
