Jharsuguda Gears up for General Election, Polling Officers, EVM Machine dispatched

Jharsuguda: The polling team and EVM Machine were dispatched on Sunday for Phase 5 of the General election which will go on polls on May 20th. Under Bargarh Parliamentary Constituency, Voting will be done in 7 assembly constituencies including Jharsuguda and Brajrajnagar Assembly Constituency for which the Jharsuguda District administration has made all necessary arrangements.

As per data, the Jharsuguda Assembly constituency has 257 polling booths with a total of 229034 Voters including 113373 male Voters, 115602 female voters and 59 third gender, whereas the Brajrajnagar Assembly constituency has 258 polling booths with a total of 217032 voters including 110224 male voters, 106792 female voters and 16 third genders.

In Jharsuguda Assembly Constituency, Webcasting will be done in 155 booths, 94 booths are considered to be critical booths, 40 booths will be Sakhi booths in which all women personnel will be deployed and 5 booths will be managed by youths and 2 booths will be for Person with Disability (PwD) and 4 booths will be Eco-Friendly booths.

Similarly, in Brajrajnagar Assembly constituency, Webcasting will be done in 154 booths, 66 booths are critical booths, 40 booths will be Sakhi booths in which all women personnel will be deployed and 5 booths will be managed by youths and 2 booths will be for Person with Disability (PwD) and 5 booths will be Eco-Friendly booths.

Jharsuguda District Collector Aboli Sunil Naravane said, “EVM Machine has been dispatched for 515 polling booths. Among 515 booths, 80 booths are Sakhi booths. By 7 am our voting will start. Amid Heatwave, we have stationed 30 medical mobile vans along with one ASHA worker who will be present in every booth. A First Aid Kit with sufficient ORS packets has been provided to the presiding officers. Drinking water, Ramp and shade facilities have been already provided at all the polling booths. Various arrangements have been made for the Critical booths, in which the Central Para Military force has been deployed. Micro observers have been deployed to 67 booths. Subsequently, we are conducting webcasting of 309 polling booths, whose direct feed will be directly monitored by the CEO and ECI office.”

Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Smit P Parmar said, “We have deployed Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) police personnel in 160 booths out of 515 polling booths, webcasting will be done in 309 booths, 67 micro-observers have been deployed, 59 revenue sector parties including armed police personnel, 39 mobile parties, 20 Sector Police parties, 6 DSP Rank Parties, 2 Addl. SP Parties. All vehicles will be GPS-tagged and will be monitored from the Composite Control Room. All the Polling parties have been sent to their respective polling booths. We are holding continuous flag march and static deployment is also being done. We want to repeat that there is no place for any type of violence and if anyone is found then stringent action will be taken against them.  We want to conduct a free, safe and fair election.”
