Indigo Airlines commenced its direct flight services for Bengaluru from VSS Airport, Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda : In a major boost to the Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda, Indigo Airlines commenced its first direct flight connectivity to the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru on Wednesday.

During the inaugural function, a cake-cutting ceremony was done by the first passengers traveling from Jharsuguda to Bengaluru in the presence of Jharsuguda Airport Director Sandip Tiwari, Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Airport Manager, Indigo Airlines, Pratap Kumar Nambiar, Airport Manager, AAI, Subash Chandra Bhoi, CASO, and other senior Airport and Airlines officials.  A total of 179 passengers arrived from Bengaluru while 169 passengers departed from Jharsuguda on the inaugural flight.

Additionally, in a Proud moment both Indigo Airlines Pilots, who flew the inaugural flight belonged from Jharsuguda and Sambalpur. The Capt. Rahul Leekha is a resident of Jharsuguda while his co-pilot Payal Agarwal is a resident of Sambalpur.

Sharing the moment of Joy, Vijay Leekha, the father of Indigo Capt. Rahul Leekha said, “It was a proud moment for us and the people of Jharsuguda that he had flown the first inaugural flight from Bengaluru to Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda.”

“Everyone was very excited, whole family had come and met him at Jharsuguda Airport, He was very happy to bring the inaugural flight.” Said his Mother Mina Leekha

On the other hand, the co-pilot Payal Agarwal’s parents had also met their daughter.  “She felt very good that she had flown the inaugural flight to her hometown and got a very good welcome at Jharsuguda Airport.” Said Mamta Agarwal, mother a resident of Sambalpur

Airport Director VSS Airport, Sandip Tiwari said, “Indigo’s second sector Bengaluru has started from VSS Airport today. The inaugural flight had arrived 11 minutes before its scheduled arrival of 12:20 pm and had departed at 12:50 pm. It had a full load with 179 passengers on arrival and 169 passengers on departure. As a custom, a Water Cannon Salute was given to the inaugural flight. We held a cake-cutting ceremony for the first passenger traveling from Jharsuguda to Bengaluru. We request passengers to use this airport so that in the future we don’t have any issues with the load factor. Indigo Airlines has also taken slots for other sectors as well, like Kolkata in the Morning and Delhi in the afternoon, we hope that they start these flights in the future.”

“As I am a resident of Trivandrum and working with a Pvt. Company in Jharsuguda, Earlier, it used to take more than 40 hours to reach my place at Trivandrum but now with this Indigo Bengaluru flight connectivity, I am able to reach Jharsuguda within 5 hours,” said Jyoti, an employee

“I am from Bellary, and I am working here, earlier I used to travel via Hyderabad, it was very hectic but now the direct connectivity from Bengaluru is a time saver for me.” Said Shabir Badshah, a resident of Bellary in Karnataka.
