OPGC Celebrates 40th Foundation Day

Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. celebrated its 40th Foundation Day today. To celebrate the landmark event OPGC carried out many events starting with a marathon in three separate categories, Employees, ladies, and children. Managing Director   Manas Ranjan Rout flagged off the marathon for employees at 7.10 am from Rajiv Gandhi Ground to the ITPS plant gate and back. Thereafter marathon for ladies and school children was flagged off which stretched from Rajiv Gandhi Ground to Telenpali main gate and back. More than 500 persons which include employees, school children, and ladies participated in the marathon.   Thanasagar Padhan, Vijay Kumar, and Bhagmat Majhi clinched the first three positions respectively in the marathon in employee’s category. In the women’s category, Ms Rinju Sathish, Ms. Manju Dash, and Ms Rajani Dandsena grabbed the first three positions. In the category of children Md. Safi Ahmed, Rakesh Roshan, and Papu Jena came first, second, and third respectively. The Managing Director felicitated the winners of each category.

Later a plantation drive was organized in the vicinity of D-3 type quarters, in front of ITPS Hospital where about 100 cashew saplings were planted which was followed by a blood donation camp organized at the IB Thermal Hospital in collaboration with the Red Cross. Managing Director Sri Rout inaugurated the camp wherein 45 units of blood were collected from donors which include employees and their family members. Mr. Rout along with his better half Ms Tarekeswari Rout also visited the patients admitted at the ITPS hospital to wish them a fast recovery and on this occasion, they distributed food to the patients. Programs that follow are a two-day long cultural program and a Fete by members of IB Thermal Ladies Club at the event venue Rajiv Gandhi Ground. Many outside agencies & local SHG groups are also allotted stalls at the event venue through which they are showcasing their products. Members of OPGC HR & Admin along with volunteers from other departments are coordinating the whole event led by Head (HR & Admin) Dr. Ratikanta Dash.
