Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda District Magistrate celebrates Diwali with mentally challenged Children at Mission Ashra . The inmates of Mission Ashra celebrated Diwali by lighting lamps. Apart from this, various cultural programs were organized by the inmates, alongwith Jharsuguda District Collector Ms. Aboli Sunil Naravane, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest, Additional District Magistrate Lankeshwar Amat (Rev.), District Child Protection Officer Sunanda Maharana, Lecturer and Poet Ms. Dunakini Satpathy, Educationist and Social Worker Kabita Panda, Narendra Panda, former principal of Lakshmi Narayan College, Sujatha Mishra, President of Eita Jeevan Foundation, Sanjay Kumar, Vice President of People’s Forum , other intellectuals, social activists and media representatives of Jharsuguda district were present in the program.
The District Magistrate praised the dance performed by the mentally challenged inmates and thanked and encouraged the staff who trained them for such work. The spiritual message of the Additional District Collector was very instructive and useful for daily life. Other government officials also expressed gratitude to the People’s Forum for its social development work.
Finally, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Vice President of People’s Forum gave vote of thanks and the staff, inmates and inmates enjoyed the cultural program. This program was organized by all the staff of People’s Forum.
Mission Ashra is being run since 2016 for the rehabilitation of mentally challenged women by People’s Forum with the joint support of District Mineral Fund and District Administration. Through this mission, the People’s Forum continues its relentless efforts to shelter many hopeless mentally ill people and rehabilitate them into the mainstream of society. Not only women with mental disabilities but men with mental disabilities as well as drug prevention and old age homes are also working in this district under the management of People’s Forum. The people of Jharsuguda and other districts and people from outside the state are also benefiting through this rehabilitation center. In all these rehabilitation centers, efforts are made to make them self-reliant by giving them proper treatment and providing them with various types of vocational education.
After the treatment, improves their physical and mental condition, their home address is traced and they are taken to their proper address. People’s Forum has been celebrating various regional and national festivals throughout the year at its other rehabilitation centers. This improves the mental condition of the inmates and creates a family and social atmosphere.
