Ollywood controversy: Protest against Odia film ‘Pratha’ in Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda: The ongoing controversy in Ollywood seems to be affecting the films released now. While the controversy over the Odia film ‘Ram’ is still raging, another controversy has started over another film. Now, in Jharsuguda, there is a protest against the Ollywood film ‘Pratha’.
According to reports, the premiere show of the film ‘Pratha’ was to be launched at Shiva Hall in Jharsuguda last Friday. However, before the film started, members of the Koshal Sena came and tore down all the posters and banners.
Sanlisha Patel, the project director of the film, condemned Koshal Sena’s actions. She posted on social media and requested everyone to watch the film without tearing the posters. She also said that the people of Jharsuguda and West Odisha will miss out on watching Odia movies if the protests continue.
Patel appealed to the government to intervene in the matter. She said that if a person spends crores of rupees and makes a film and then gets into such problems, then the sponsor will never dare to make a film again.
It is worth noting that the film ‘Ram’ starring Ollywood actor Arindam could not be released in Sambalpur. The sponsor association blamed actor Manoj Mishra for this. Later, it was decided to ban him for two years. The dispute between Mishra and the Ollywood film industry is becoming more and more intense.
