Voter Awareness Programmes Held in Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda: Various programmes were organised in Jharsuguda on October 28, 2023, as part of the Special Brief Voter Amendment Programme 2024. These programmes included an e-district-level Patha Utsava (walkathon), Pala, Daskathia Rangoli, and Patha Prantaa Nataka (play).
In the morning, a walkathon was held from Gandhi Street (Old Bus Stand) to the District Collector’s office. District Magistrate Aboli Sunil Narwane and Superintendent of Police Smit P. Parmar jointly flagged off the walkathon. Booth-level officials, district-level officials and staff, teachers, and students participated in the walkathon, including students who were about to turn 18 and become eligible to vote.
A voter awareness programme was also held at the District Collector’s office premises through Pala, Daskathia, Rangoli, and street plays. District Magistrate Ms. Narwane and Superintendent of Police Shri Parmar highlighted the importance of conscious voters in nation-building.
They also emphasised the role of the media in creating awareness about the importance of voting. District Information and Public Relations Officer Ajay Jena and District Child Protection Officer Sunand Maharana coordinated the programme.
Students of the local Lashminarayan College performed a street play. Students of Lashminarayan College and Women’s College drew rangoli. Gauhari Khimari and co-Daskathia performed Pala and Daskathia, and Prahallad Mishra performed Pala and Daskathia.
Prizes and certificates were given to the students who won the Rangoli competition, and the artists who performed Pathaprant Nataka, Rangoli, and Pala and Daskathia were given certificates of appreciation.
The Special Brief Voter Amendment Programme 2024 is a nationwide initiative to encourage people to register to vote and to update their voter registration information. The programme is also aimed at creating awareness about the importance of voting and the electoral process.
