People�s Forum Celebrated Dandia Festival at Mission Ashra Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda : Like every year this year too, Dandia Ustav Festival Celebration organized by the People’s Forum with the joint support of the District Mineral Fund and the District Administration. On this occasion, Many intellectuals, district administration officials, and eminent lecturers Mandakini Shatpathi, educationist and social activist� Kabita Panda and president of Eita Jeevan Foundation President, Mrs. Sujata Mishra and other social organizations participated in this event. Staff, inmates and inmates from all the rehabilitation centers of People’s Forum participated in the program and performed Dandiya and other dance songs. The purpose of celebrating this day is to inculcate a spiritual mindset in the minds of the inmates on the eve of Navratri. Various festivals are celebrated throughout the year in all the centers of the People’s Forum. This improves the mental condition of the inmates and creates a family and social atmosphere.
It is worth mentioning here that 6 rehabilitation centers are being run by People’s Forum in Jharsuguda district. Out of them, Mission Ashra-1 for women with mental disorders had 125 beds and currently there are 131 inmates, Mission Ashra-2 had 90 beds and currently 98 inmates are living there. Similarly, Mission Ashalok-1 has 125 beds and Current residents are 139, Mission Ashalok-2 has 50 bed capacity and 58 people are currently staying and under treatment. Old Age Home for the Elderly had 50 bed capacity and now there are 53 elderly people living there. Apart from this, the de-addiction center at Suldia Pada in Jharsuguda district had 30 bed capacity where as currently 33 inmates are being treated here. In all these rehabilitation centers, efforts are made to make them self-reliant by giving them proper treatment and providing them with various types of vocational education. After the treatment improves their physical and mental condition, their home address is traced and they are taken to their proper address.
People’s Forum has started working in Jharsuguda district since 2016 and so far 2092 people from different categories of people abandoned by the society have been able to be transferred to their families and included in the mainstream of the society. The program was conducted by staffs of all the centers of the People’s Forum Jharsuguda.
