District-Level School Hockey Competition Held in Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda: A district-level school hockey competition was held at Jawaharlal Nehru School in Jharsuguda. State Hockey Vice President Jeevan Mohanty was the guest of honor, and District Education Officer Pushpa Minj officially opened the competition. The principal of Government Girls School Patajoshi, SDPO Nirmal Kumar Mahapatra, Prajbal Patel, and Ganesh Padhan were also present as guests.
Teams from five blocks of the district participated in the competition, including under-17 boys and girls teams and under-14 boys and girls teams. 30 officials, 18 managers, and coaches oversaw the competition, which included 320 hockey players from the five blocks.
In the Under-17 boys category, Kirmia Block emerged as champions, while Lakhanpur Block was the runner-up. In the girls category, Kirmia Block was the champion, and Patajoshi Block was the runner-up. In the Under-14 boys category, Kirmia Block was the champion and Jharsuguda Block was the runner-up. In the girls category, Kirmia Block was also the champion.
The Jharsuguda team won the Under-17 girls category by a score of 3-1 in the penalty shootout. The best players from the competition will be selected to participate in the state-level hockey tournament to be held in Sundargarh from September 7 to 9.

Abani Kumar Tripathi was the table official for the competition, and Bansidhara Pashayat assisted. Bansidhara Pashayat, a physical education teacher, proposed the vote of thanks.
