Govt Reduces Cooking Gas Prices by Rs 200
New Delhi: The central government on Tuesday announced a significant reduction in the price of cooking gas. The price of a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder will be reduced by Rs 200 in all markets of the country, effective August 30, 2023.
This means that the price of a 14.2-kg cylinder in the capital, Delhi, will be reduced to Rs 903 from the current Rs 1103 per cylinder.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this is a gift to billions of sisters in the country on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. He said that the government will always do its best to improve the living conditions of the people and benefit the poor and middle classes.
Apart from this price reduction, the subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder will also continue for families under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). So after this price reduction, the effective price per cylinder for PMUY families in Delhi will be Rs 703.
Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri expressed happiness over the decision and said that the government understands the challenges faced by common families in the country in managing their budgets. He said that the objective of reducing cooking gas prices is to provide direct relief to these common families and individuals and also support the larger objective of the government to ensure affordable availability of essential commodities.
