DAV Public School Celebrates 162nd Birth Anniversary of Poet Gangadhar Meher
Jharsuguda: The 162nd birth anniversary of the poet Gangadhar Meher was celebrated on the premises of DAV Public School on Wednesday. The DAV family paid tribute to the poet on this occasion.
Principal of DAV Public School, Prashant Kumar Panda remembered Gangadhar Meher and addressed everyone to imbibe patriotic, nature-based, and humanitarian poems from his writings and adopt them in life. He opined that if Gangadhar’s literature was well-known throughout the world and if his literary works were properly rated, he would have been awarded the Nobel Prize.
Teacher Madhusmita Palei gave a biography of Gangadhar. Anushka, a student at the school, conducted the program. Student Soumyaranjan Naik spoke about poet Gangadhar’s thoughts, while student Jignyasi Pradhan gave a brief introduction to the ideals of Gangadhar’s literary practice.
Preeti Prasanna Biswal dressed up as the poet Gangadhar Meher and invited everyone through songs to introduce herself as wise with a heartfelt love for her motherland and mother tongue. Under the supervision of music teacher Rahas Bihari Dash, the students of the school performed group music, ‘Biswa Dekha Madhumayre Jiban’. The teachers and students of the school participated in the program.
The event was a great success, and it helped raise awareness about the work of the poet Gangadhar Meher. It is hoped that the event will inspire people to read more of his works and to adopt his ideals in their own lives.
