Prominent Literary and Journalist Kumar Hasan Passes Away
Jharsuguda: Prominent literary figure and journalist Kumar Hasan passed away in Sambalpur on Sunday morning. He was 63 years old.
Hasan had been bedridden for a long time and breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Sambalpur. His death has cast a shadow of mourning in various quarters.
Hasan was born on February 2, 1960, in Bichchedgarh, Jharsuguda district. He was a well-known literary figure in both Hindi and Oriya. He authored more than 60 books during his lifetime, which have been translated into various Indian languages as well as English, Chinese, Russian, and French. Hasan retired as a journalist after working for the daily ‘Samaj’. He was also a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award.
Prominent literary figure and adviser to the Central Sahitya Academy, Gourhari Das, has expressed deep grief over Hasan’s demise.
“Kumar Hasan was a towering figure in the literary world of Odisha. His death is a great loss to the state,” Das said.
