Jharsuguda: Accused Gopal Das was produced in Jharsuguda JMFC court here on Thursday in connection with the murder of former Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das.
According to sources, a team from the Crime Branch brought Gopal Das from Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack to Jharsuguda. Later in tight security, he was brought from OSAP Reserve Police Ground to JMFC court at District Court Complex in Jharsuguda.
As per the Advocate Dayanidhi Chand, the Remand Advocate of Gopal Das said “In connection of Naba Das Murder Case, the accused Gopal Das was brought to JMFC court in Jharsuguda, he was physically present for around 10 minutes. The Judge had asked him if he wants to fight the case, and Gopal Das said that he is ready to fight. In coming days, the charges will be framed against him in the District Judge Court and after the charges will be framed, the hearing of this case will start.”
Former Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das was shot by ASI Gopal Das at Gandhi Chowk in the Brajrajnagar area of Jharsuguda district on January 29. The Accused ASI Gopal Das had Fired when the minister was about to come out of the car to attend an inauguration program. However, Das succumbed to bullet injuries while undergoing treatment at the private hospital. In this regard, the Crime Branch submitted the 544-page preliminary chargesheet to Jharsuguda JMFC Court on May 26.
