Jharsuguda Pencak Silat Association Wins State Championship
Jharsuguda: The Jharsuguda Pencak Silat Association won the state-level championship held in Keonjhar on June 18, 2023. The association participated with nine players and won eight gold and two silver medals.
The gold medalists are:
Mangaram Tamang in the Tendig Ebent event
Sonu Semalia in the Tendig event
Yasont Luhar in the Tendig event
Sohil Gurung in the Tendig event
Karan Shrest in the Tendig event
Hem Bahadur Semai Magar in the Tendig event
Lilabati Rana in the Tungal event

The honor ceremony was held at the State Head Office in Sarbahal, Jharsuguda. Jharsuguda MLA Deepali Das was the chief guest and presented medals to all the winning players. She said that the association will continue to improve and bring more glory to the district in the coming days.
The State President of Pencak Silat Association Odisha, Mr. Tapas Kumar Raychoudhuri, State Vice President Arabind Barik, and Secretary Guru Prem Singh Thapa were also present at the ceremony. They encouraged the players and wished them success in future competitions.
The Pencak Silat Association is a martial arts organisation that promotes the Indonesian martial art of Pencak Silat. The association has been active in Jharsuguda for many years and has produced many talented athletes.
