Forest Department Organises Tree Planting Festival in Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda: Guests at the 74th Forest Festival in Jharsuguda, Odisha, stressed the need for tree planting to protect the ecological balance. The Forest festival was held at the premises of Bir Surendra Sai Airport and was attended by a number of dignitaries, including DFO Manu Ashok Bhatt, Airport Director Sandeep Kumar Tiwari, District Legal Service Authority Ms. Neha Das, Trinath Gual, Tapas Roy Chowdhury, and Prahlad Naik.
The guests highlighted the importance of forests in maintaining the environment and said that tree planting is essential to prevent deforestation. They also urged the government to take steps to create widespread public awareness about the importance of forests.
Deepika Cheney, a student of Talpattia High School, spoke about the background of the celebration of the forest festival in the country and said that the National Forest Act should be strictly enforced.
On the occasion, Pakelkhal Bana Samiti was awarded for its outstanding work in the field of forest protection. The program was coordinated by Ms. Sasmita Sahu of ACF. The present guests and students planted trees.
The festival was organised by the Forest Department of Odisha and was aimed at raising awareness about the importance of forests and the need for tree planting. The department said that it would continue to organise such festivals in the future and that it would work to create widespread public awareness about the importance of forests.
