Jharsuguda Bypoll Result Triggers Introspection and Reorganisation Within Congress
Bhubaneswar/Jharsuguda: The outcome of the Jharsuguda bypoll has triggered a series of responses within the political landscape, prompting a thorough analysis of the situation. PCC President Sharat Patnaik addressed the defeat and stressed the importance of conducting a comprehensive review.
Acknowledging that the party’s high command is already aware of the situation, Patnaik announced the formation of a 3-member committee that will be dispatched to Jharsuguda. Their primary objective will be to investigate the factors contributing to the decline in votes and subsequently present a detailed report. Based on the findings, appropriate measures will be taken to address the shortcomings and pave the way for future improvements.
In light of the electoral setback, District Congress President Ashok Mishra convened a press conference to shed light on the party’s perspective. Mishra openly discussed the reasons behind Congress candidate Tarun Pandey’s defeat in the Jharsuguda by-election. He placed particular emphasis on the party’s disappointing performance, attributing the loss to anti-party comments made by party MLA Muhammad Mokkim and former MLA Chiranjeevi Biswal. Mishra held both individuals responsible for their detrimental remarks, asserting that such actions had severe repercussions for the party’s electoral campaign.
Mishra expressed concern over the conduct of Chiranjeevi Biswal, highlighting the deep-rooted association the Biswal family has with the Congress party. Given their history of involvement and recognition within the party, Mishra expressed disappointment at Chiranjeevi’s decision to criticise the party following the failure of all participating factions.
