Odisha attracts investment intents of over Rs 26,000 crore at Tokyo meet

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Business Meet, 2023 took place in Tokyo and was arranged by the government of Odisha in association with the Indian Embassy in Japan, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). More than 200 delegates from various industries across Japan were in attendance. During the event, the state got investment intents of more than Rs 26,000 crore in industries including IT/ITeS, metal auxiliary, steel, downstream metal, green hydrogen and green ammonia, and logistics.

The state’s abundant natural resources, talented and productive human resources, progressive policies, and strong result-oriented government, which provide a unique ecosystem for investment, were highlighted by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in his address to the investors.

Additionally, he noted that in the most recent ease of doing business ratings published by the Centre, Odisha received achiever status and is one of the top states in India for luring investments.

The Chief Minister emphasised that Odisha is becoming into the centre of trade and commerce in the Bay of Bengal region and that his administration has made steps to support businesses wanting to serve untapped markets in eastern and northeastern India, as well as those in ASEAN and East Asia. In addition, Patnaik concentrated on maintaining the state’s unique cultural heritage while offering all investors visiting Odisha the best possible facilitation. He invited Japanese businesspeople to come to Odisha and see the changes taking place there.

Nihon-Utkal (NITKAL) and IIIT, Bhubaneswar have signed an MoU to work together on skill development. The occasion also provided a forum for conversations about trade and technology transfer between Japanese and Odisha corporate delegations. Patnaik also had one-on-one G2B talks earlier in the day with a dozen significant Japanese investors.
