Student allegedly thrashes Lecturer of PKSS Degree College

Jharsuguda : A 24-year-old student of +3 first year of Pradosh Kumar Smruti Smaraki (PKSS) Degree College, H. Kantapali in Jharsuguda has allegedly assaulted an English lecturer after he was not allowed to attend the class for coming late on Wednesday.

Police officials identified the student as Dinesh Kumar Sahis (24years), a resident of Brajrajnagar and a student of +3 first-year Arts, while the English Lecturer has been identified as Amit Kumar Barik (36 years), a resident of Budhipatar. He has been an English lecturer at PKSS Degree College, H. Kantapali, Jharsuguda since 2012.

The principal of the PKSS Degree College, Krushna Rani Bhoi said, The incident took place at 11.40 am, when Amit Kumar Barik, an English lecturer at our college was taking an Environmental Science class for +3 first-year Arts Student, when Dinesh Sahis, who had come late and was not allowed to attend the class, due to which he had an argument with the lecturer Amit Barik and the argument was so heated up that, in a fit of anger Dinesh had physically assaulted, due to this the lecturer Amit fell unconscious and suffered some internal injury as some blood come out from nose and ear. Later, we immediately shifted him to Moti Lal Yadav Memorial Samleswari Hospital, after which he was referred to VIMSAR, Burla. He is said to be in critical condition. Subsequently, we have lodged a complaint with Jharsuguda Sadar Police Station.

Jharsuguda Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Suchismita Mohanty said A 307 IPC (attempt to murder) case has been registered based on the complaint received from the principal of PKSS Degree college, and the accused Dinesh has been arrested and has been forwarded to court where the court has been sent to Judicial custody.
