VSS committee builds Stone Check Dam to solve water problem in Deopan forest
Jharsuguda : In the forests of Deopan Van Surakhya Samiti under Bagdihi range of Jharsuguda district , stone check dams have been built and water facilities for wild animals have been provided by the committee .
Even if it is full of water during rainy days, water crisis appears with the coming of winter. On summers there is a water crisis. To overcome this problem, the dam has been built with stones by the Deopan Van Surakhya Samiti. It is 20 feet long and 3 feet wide and 2.6 feet high. By this, the water is retained and kept for use during the summer season. This unique effort has been made by the Deopan Van Surakhya Samiti to help other wild animals especially elephants which spend most of their time in the forest. While everyone has welcomed this unique initiative, everyone has contributed their efforts and built this stone check dam. Team Leader Chudamani Behera, Forest Guard Bipin Sa, President Katibas Chhatriya, Arakshit Chhatriya and all the members were present.
