45 year old Homeguard dies
Jharsuguda : A 45-year-old Home guard Trilochan Mohanty, a resident of Bhaskar Textile mill Colony, Jharsuguda and stationed at booth no. 238 in Govt. Primary School, Phata under Sarandamal Gram panchayat died on Tuesday. The post mortem will be done on Wednesday to ascertain the cause of death.
As per reports, On Sunday, Trilochan Mohanty was on the bye-election duty station at booth no. 238 in Govt. Primary School, Phata under Sarandamal Gram panchayat had complained of not being well. He was immediately shifted to the District headquarter hospital, Jharsuguda. While on Monday, he was referred to VIMSAR Burla, but later he died on the way. He is survived by his wife and a 10-year-old daughter and twins aged 3-year-old. He was working as Home Guard in Sadar police station, Jharsuguda.
Earlier, on Monday evening, a second polling officer, Dilip Khadia (45 years old) stationed at polling booth no. 169 in Phalsadhipa Village under Loising Panchayat had also died. Â The exact cause of death is still not known. Preliminary reports said that he might have suffered a Cardiac arrest.
As per the reports, Khadia was present at the polling booth along with other officials, after which he suddenly felt unconscious in the evening. He was rushed to Central Hospital at Mandalia in Brajrajnagar, where the doctors had declared him brought dead. Khadia was a resident of Tangarpali Village near Talpatia and was serving as an assistant teacher in Talpatia
Jharsuguda Saroj Kumar Samal said, “ After getting information, I reached Hospital and learned from the doctor that he was received dead. As per the doctor, he might have suffered from a cardiac arrest. However, the exact cause of death will be known after the post mortem. We are treating him as on Poll duty and will refer the Election Commission, as there is a provision of providing Ex-gratia of Rs. 15 Lakhs. Presently, from the District Red Cross society the amount of Rs. 25,000 has been provided for the funeral. We will also help his child to complete his education. Meanwhile, we extend our deepest condolence to the family members.”
