Additional Baggage Conveyor Belt made functional at VSS Airport, Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda : In a bid to make Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda more convenient for the passengers, additional Baggage Conveyor Belt has been made functional. The information was shared by the Jharsuguda Airport Director Pawan Kumar Zutshi.
Presently, Veer Surendra Sai Airport has only one baggage conveyor belt, due to which if there are two flights arrivals at the airport, then the passengers had to wait a lot of time to collect their baggage’s.
Airport Director Pawan Kumar Zutshi, said, “One additional arrival conveyor has been put on service for the benefit of the passengers at Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has expended Rs.26.00 lakh for the work. After this, the arriving passengers will not face any difficulties in collecting their baggage’s if there are two flight arrivals at the same time.”
As per the report, apart from this, additional four more bays will also be constructed for which the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has already awarded a tender to a Kolkata based firm. The total estimated cost for the construction is around Rs.12.5 Cr. These four additional bays will be designed for the landing of A320 type Airbus aircraft. And it will be completed by January 2023 after which Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, Jharsuguda can accommodate 6 aircraft at a time.
Presently, Spicejet Airline has been operating flights for Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore from Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda Apart from this Alliance Air has also been operating flights for Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Kolkata.
