Cyclist dies after the accident, truck set ablaze
Jharsuguda : Angry mob set a truck ablaze after a 70 year old man , who was reportedly travelling on his bicycle died after an iron ore laden truck had overrun him on Sunday afternoon, on Kolabira – Kuchinda Road near Badbahal chowk under Kolabira Police Station Limits in Jharsuguda District.
The victim, identified as Hemsagar Sahu (70), a resident of Pokhrasale village under Kolabira Block, was returning back to his village, when this truck coming from Kuchinda going towards Jharsuguda had overrun Hemsagar Sahu, and killing him on the spot, near Badbahal chowk.
Soon after the accident, the local resident had staged a road blockade on NH – 49 in protest of the accident, while the driver of the truck had fled away from the spot. Subsequently, the mob had set the truck ablaze and later it was dozed off by the fire fighters’ officials who reached the spot. Meanwhile the police officials had reached the spot and tried to pacify the angry mob.
After the intervention of SDPO Nirmal Mohapatra and his assurance for appropriate action, the villagers had withdrawn their protest and the traffic on NH – 49 was restored, after the disruption of nearly two hours.
