Two Inter State Ganja Smugglers held

Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda Police on Thursday busted an Interstate Ganja Smugglers and seized around 74 Kg worth 4 Lakhs of Ganja from a car.

Police identified the two accused as Chiranjibi Naik (34), Purandar Majhi (37) both residents of Junagarh of Kalahandi District.

As per the report, On 1st September, Jharsuguda police received credible input regarding the transportation of Ganja in a Honda City Car (Regd. No. CG 10F 3111) from Junagarh under Kalahandi district to Sundergarh route. IIC Sabitri Bal along with Police station staff organized a Checking near the Nikhil Dhaba area on SH-10 of Biju Expressway and was able to intercept the car. During the verification and search in presence of Executive Magistrate Smt. Reshma Tete, 74 kgs of Ganja worth Rs. 4 Lakhs packed in 3 plastic gunny bags were seized, along with the seizure of two mobiles Phones and Rs. 1000, Driving license and Aadhar Card from their possession.

Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Bikash Ch. Das said, “The accused had made one extra chamber under the seat of the car to transport the ganja in a secret manner. During interrogation, the arrested accused persons confessed to have procured the Ganja from a remote area of the Koraput district and were transporting the same to Kota (Rajasthan). Earlier also the accused had delivered Ganja at Allahabad, Bilaspur, Nagpur areas. The accused usually purchase Ganja at the rate of Rs. 2000 per Kg and selling in another state at the rate of Rs. 5000 per Kg. We are regularly conducting checking to detect illegal transportation of Ganja and other contraband articles.”

Notably, Inspector Sabitri Bal, IIC of Jharsuguda PS, SI Maheswar Panigrahi, Si Kshetra Mohan Majhi, SI Gitanjali Mirdha, ASI Sanjaya Sahu, and other officials were also present during the raid.
