Web portal Journalist arrested for allegedly duping Rs 2.5 Lakhs from a girl
Jharsuguda : A youth falsely identifying himself as a journalist has been arrested by Badmal police on Wednesday for allegedly looting Rs. 2.5 Lakhs from a 22-year-old girl on a false promise for marrying after befriending her on Facebook.
The accused has been identified as Deepak Dehury (26), a resident of Udit Nagar, Rourkela
As per Jharsuguda SDPO Nirmal Mohapatra, “On 3rd May, a woman, resident of Shah Para in Jharsuguda district had lodged a written complaint against the accused Deepak Dehury, a resident of Rourkela who had allegedly developed a love relationship with her daughter through Facebook account after which the girl had believed his false promise of marriage and had eloped with him. Later the victim Girl came to know that, the accused has already been married. After which there was a dispute between them. Subsequently, the accused Deepak had allegedly transferred Rs. 2.5 Lakhs from the victim’s bank account to the bank account of his first wife. After learning, this the girl had managed to return back home and narrated the entire incident to her mother who later registered a complaint at Badmal Police station. Since then, the accused was still at large.
On getting information from reliable sources, Badmal Police had arrested the accused at Darlipali area, who was involve in land brokerage. We also seized an identity card of a web news portal, which is under investigation. Additionally, we have frozen both bank accounts belonging to the accused and his wife, however, as there was no money left in the bank accounts. We are trying to seize the assets purchased through that amount.”
