LPG Cylinder racket busted, three held
Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda Police on Wednesday busted an LPG Gas Cylinder theft Racket and arrested three people including the driver of the truck transporting the LPG Cylinder. The driver uses to sell the cylinder to miscreants and replace the filled LPG Cylinder with a water-filled LPG Cylinder.
Police identified the accused as Bhubaneswar Yadav (37), driver of a Truck and his relative Abhinash Yadav (35), both residents of Giridih, Jharkhand and one Manas Ranjan Patra (28), a resident of Beheramal, Jharsuguda, who is the kingpin of this racket
As per the report, based on a complaint reported by one Debendra Tiwari owner of a Transport engaged in Transporting of LPG Cylinder from Indian Oil Corporation Limited, (IOCL) Bottling Plant, near OMP, Jharsuguda. On 15th August, One Bhubaneswar Yadav, a truck driver of OR01-V2727 had loaded 324 nos. of domestic LPG Gas Cylinder from IOCL Plant, Jharsuguda for delivery at Attabira. On the way, the driver along with the help of his relative Abinash Yadav had sold 2 cylinders to one Manas Ranjan Patra of Beheramal and Later loaded 2 water-filled cylinders in the said truck. After receiving a complaint, the transport owner verified and found the water-filled cylinders in the truck and lodged a complaint at Talpatia Police Outpost and investigated the matter. During the investigation, both Bhubaneswar Yadav and Abhinash Yadav was arrested and confessed to having sold the gas cylinders to Manas Ranjan Patra of Beheramal. Subsequently, a raid was conducted and the kingpin behind the racket Manas Ranjan Patra was arrested along with 8 LPG Gas Cylinders and his Maruti Van (OR 23B-9701) which was seized.
Accused Manas Ranjan Patra confessed to having been purchasing each cylinder from different drivers at the rate of Rs. 500/- per cylinder and selling to customers at a price of Rs. 800/-
Jharsuguda SP Bikash Ch. Das said, “After a complaint filed by the transporter of IOCL, Debendra Tiwari, we arrested the driver and his relative along with the Manas Ranjan Patra of Beheramal. We have seized 8 Cylinders and also a car engaged in this crime. We are also investigating regarding involvement of more people in this case. All the three accused have been forwarded today.”
