Build new CHC at Rajpur, demands Local resident of Rajpur Panchayat

Jharsuguda : Local Villagers of Rajpur Gram Panchayat on Saturday demanded the government to convert the Rajpur Primary Health Centre into Community Health Centre instead of setting up a new CHC at another place which is around 2-3 Kilometre from Rajpur.

Addressing the press meet, the local resident of Rajpur said, we are thankful that our Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for laying the foundation stone for the building of a Community Health centre which will be very beneficial for the local residents. However, we demand the state government to upgrade the same building and rather searching a new place, which will create a problem for the local people.

In June, CM Naveen Patnaik had laid the foundation stone for a Building of a Community Health Centre in the Rajpur area under Brajrajnagar.

Rajpur Panchayat, Sarpanch Jatin Deo said, “When our Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for Community Health Centre, we believed that the existing PHC will be get upgraded into CHC but after that, we learnt that the officials have selected a new place which is around 3 kilometres away from Rajpur panchayat, due to which the people living nearby will have to face many difficulties. But we want to demand that the hospital should be built in the same place so that the local tribal people and local residents can be benefitted. The selected place is not at all fit for the hospital.”

Jharsuguda Chief District Medical Officer Dr Lal Mohan Routray said that “At Rajpur area under Brajrajnagar there is no adequate government land available as for building a Community Health Centre which requires around 5 Acres of Land due to which the site has been selected at another place.”
