Joint Patrolling to check poaching of migratory birds in Hirakud Reservoir

Jharsuguda : In a bid to check the poaching of Migratory birds in Hirakud Reservoir, The Jharsuguda Forest Division along with Hirakud Wildlife Division jointly conducted a Patrolling on the Hirakud Reservoir on Saturday.

The Patrolling was conducted from Rampaluga area under Sonari Panchayat to Mahulpali area under Kandheikela Panchayat, in Lakhanpur Block area.

As per Jharsuguda Forest Divisional Officer Lalit Kumar Patra Said, “A Joint Patrolling was conducted by Jharsuguda Forest Division along with DFO Pratap Kottapally, Hirakud Wildlife Division, teams of both divisions had been apart of this joint patrolling. This was conducted to assess the vulnerable areas for making anti-poaching camps so that if there is any poaching happens then we can handle it properly. On last month one poaching incident happened at Jharsuguda Forest Division and we had arrested and forwarded to court.”

Simultaneously, we have also conducted preliminary Assessment Survey for the Bird Estimation for the year 2020-21. The Bird Estimation will be conducted on 7th January 2021. However, during this assessment survey, we are hoping that as compared to last year, this year the numbers will be high.” He added.
