High Court Orders not to hold Public Hearing of Vedanta Ltd. scheduled to be on 30th September
Jharsuguda : Odisha High court ordered Vedanta Limited not to hold public hearing on expansion of production capacity of Vedanta at Jharsuguda, on Tuesday. The hearing was supposed to be held on 30th September 2020.
As reported, M/s Vedanta Limited has proposed an Environmental Assessment for expansion of Aluminum Smelter (Capacity from 16 LTPA to 18 LTPA (Lakhs Tonnes Per Annum)) CPP capacity of 1215 MW by adding 2 LTPA smelter plant at Bhurkhamunda Village. The public hearing was supposed to be held on 30th September at Kurebaga under Dalki panchayat in Jharsuguda District.
Earlier, Advocate Ram Mohan Rao and Sundargarh MLA Smt. Kusum Tete had written to Chief Secretary and pleaded not to hold this Public hearing and postpone it due to the present COVID situation.
Odisha State BJP General Secretary Tankadhar Tripathy said, �The people has appealed state government and Dist. Administration to postpone the public hearing, but they acted as blind and deaf in above issue. However, the people of Jharsuguda took the help of Hon�ble Odisha High court and High court heard the matter and given a pro people decision.
