Pranab Mukherjee’s demise: Shri Narendra Modi, Virat Kohli and Dignitaries from Film Fraternity offer Condolences to the Former President’s Family

Former President of India and Bharat Ratna recipient, Pranab Mukherjee passed away on Monday after battling a prolonged illness. According to media reports, he was in a state of deep comatose after undergoing life-saving surgery. 

The news was announced by his son, Abhijit Mukherjee; He wrote the news on Twitter “With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India! I thank all of You. 

The government announced a seven-day state mourning after the death of former president at a Delhi hospital on Monday. 

“As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, seven days state mourning will be observed throughout India from 31.08.2020 to 06.09.2020, both days inclusive,” the government said in a statement. 

During the period of state mourning, the national flag will fly at half-mast on all building throughout the country, wherever it is flown regularly, and there will be no official entertainment, They added. 

Dignities from Bollywood to Tollywood celebrities, cricketers, Politicians shared their condolences to the former President of India. 

Prime minister of India, Honourable Narendra Modi remembered his contribution to the Nation. He wrote,

“India grieves the passing away of Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our Nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum and by all sections of society”.

Kamal Hassan wrote in his Tweet, “In his distinguished political journey spanning more than 5 decades, Shri Pranab Mukherjee was foreign, defense, commerce and finance minister, before becoming the 13th president of India. He was a politician from a different era. Politics will miss him dearly”.

Tollywood actor, Mohanlal wrote, “Nation will always remember the contributions of Pranab Ji. Heartfelt Condolences #PranabMukherjee”.

Ritesh Deshmukh saddened by his demise; he wrote, “Deeply Saddened!! A big loss for India. Former President of India Hon Shri #PranabMukherjee Sir will be forever remembered for his work & contribution for the development of India. My deepest condolences to @ABHIJIT_LS Ji, the entire family & his millions of followers”.

Indian Cricket team captain, Virat Kohli also shared his condolences to the family; he wrote, “The Nation has lost a brilliant leader, saddened to hear about the passing of Shri Pranab Mukherjee. My sincere condolences to his family”.
