Direct Flight for Bangalore and Mumbai from October (Winter Schedule)

Jharsuguda : Much awaited flight connectivity for Bangalore and Mumbai  sector from Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport Jharsuguda will start from this year’s winter schedule, informed Jharsuguda Airport Director Kishore Kumar Senapati.  

The upcoming winter schedule is expected to bring some cheers to the western Odisha flyers settled at Bangalore and Mumbai.  

Presently, Spicejet Airlines is operating flights for Hyderabad, Kolkata and Delhi , whereas Alliance air (wholly-owned a subsidiary of Air India Limited ) is operating flights for Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Raipur.

Jharsuguda Airport Director Kishore Kumar Senapati informed, “Presently, VSS Airport has flights for Delhi, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Hyderabad but in upcoming Winter Schedule which will start from October, there will be addition of direct flight connectivity for Bangalore and Mumbai Sector.  It will be operated by Spicejet Airlines with Boeing 737 type aircraft. We are expecting that, by this connectivity, the people of this region will be highly benefitted with these two new sector, as  presently the air travellers those who want to travel Bangalore or Mumbai, then they have to travel via Delhi or via Kolkata.”  

The Instrumental Landing System (ILS) work is on progress, We are waiting for a Technical Team to come and Calibrate the instrument. It will take around one month and after this it will be functional.  He added

“We have been seeking Bangalore connectivity since the inauguration of VSS Airport, as most of the techies who are working in the field of Information Technology companies are residing at Bangalore, but they struggle to come back to their native place due to non-connectivity of any direct flights. we are happy that the flights will be started soon ” said Deepak Swain, working in a private IT company, Bangalore
