Jharsuguda Residents demand relaxation in Weekend shutdown on Nuakhai
Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda resident on Monday submitted a letter to the Jharsuguda District Collector, requesting relaxation in Weekend Shutdown during the Western Odisha’s most celebrated festival, Nuakhai which falls on August 23rd of this month
Recently, foreseeing the upcoming festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Nuakhai, Jharsuguda District Administration had already ordered that no public celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi and Naukhai will take place in the district. However, one can celebrate this festival at their home privately.
As, Nuakhai, the agrarian festival, of Western Odisha which is widely celebrated in every nook and corners, the� local residents of Jharsuguda have demanded relaxation in the weekend shutdown, as Nuakhai falls on 23rd August, which is a Sunday. �
“Recently during Eid and Rakhi festival Jharsuguda District administration had already imposed a Shutdown during the weekend before the festival, but after local pleaded the administration to give some relaxation , Jharsuguda District �Administration had given only two hours relaxation at a very short notice , which was not so fruitful. As Nuakhai is one of the most widely celebrated festival of the western Odisha, We demand Jharsuguda District Administration to kindly give relaxation, so that people can easily celebrate the festival ” said Pintu Padhee, resident of Jharsuguda
We have submitted a letter to Jharsuguda District Collector requesting to kindly consider this plea for the benefit of everyone. he added
Along with Pintu Padhee, Tahalu Sahu and Swarnamayee Purohit were also present .
Earlier, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari have also written a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to kindly relax the Shutdown for Celebrating the Nuakhai.
