Lootcase Movie Review: Kunal Kemmu and Rasika Dugal film is a fun watch over the weekend.
Imagine a suitcase full of money! Thoughts started pouring into your mind to fulfil all your dreams. Right? Well, that isn’t the case for Nandan Kumar (Kunal Kemmu) of Disney+Hotstars new release, Lootcase.
Nandan Kumar is a worker at a printing press, struggling to give his family a better life. His wife Lata (Rasika Duggal) suggests starting a sideways ‘pappad’ business for extra income. Their young son Ayush (Aryan Prajapati) understands the money problem in his house but never compromise. One day while returning to his home at midnight, Nandan finds a Red Suitcase with cash. In the middle fo the night, his inner “sanskaar” says, Last time pooch Raha hoon, ye bag Kiska hai?
But since nobody replies at that point, he has no option to take the bag home. After coming back to his house safely, he keeps the cash bag inside his neighbour house. He finds a solution to every problem of his family had. His beloved bag, Anand Petikar, isnt easy to hide, and spending the entire amount together is not an option. So, he splits the money into small amounts and hides in a different corner of the house.
Things speed up a bit in the second half and you will find yourself laughing at several points. So away he goes bag in tow, oblivious that a corrupt politician, some ruthless gangsters, and a trigger-happy cop are in hot pursuit of it.
Kunal Kemmu is undoubtedly the star of the film. He makes every scene smooth with his innocence. He gets into the skin of his character and makes it look effortless. Rasika Dugal is playing a perfect middle-class on-screen partner. She scolds, taunts her husband for giving half of the salary to his sister but also loves him from the heart and stands behind him in hard times.
Gajraj Rao as MLA Patil, a sweet-talking MLA who gets his work done by just reminding their previous help. Vijay Raaz as Bala Rathore is obsessed with Nat Geo wildlife, He gives order and explains his wildlife terminology to his “Gundas”. Ranvir Shorey is playing a cop role, who can carry out any task with his intense capability.
Lootcase is not an extraordinary film, which will make you laugh every time. But, you will not get bored with the character, it will bring a smile on your face. If you are lucky and enjoying time with your family, then this film should be on your wish list. The film is directed by Rajesh Krishnan, who also directed web series like Tvf Tripplings. Released on 31 July 2020 on Disney+ Hotstar.
