Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda District Administration makes mandatory 14 days Quarantine period compulsory for people coming from 8 COVID Hotspot district of Odisha from Wednesday.
The eight districts notified are Sundargarh (Panposh Subdivision), Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Cuttack, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur districts.
On Wednesday, Jharsuguda District reported 34 COVID Positive cases in last 24 hours and till now the total COVID Positive cases of the district is 260, among which 78 cases are presently active and 182 cases has been recovered till now.
As per the notification, After the relaxation in lockdown conditions and reopening of economic activities, people have started coming from the other districts of the state to Jharsuguda District, even people are also coming from Hotspot areas of the state, who are later found positive for COVID-19, being asymptomatic. Subsequently, in last few days, it has been observed that the numbers of footfall in Jharsuguda District from hot spot areas of the state has been significantly increased mostly by unguided travel.
Taking all this matter into consideration, Jharsuguda administration has ordered mandatory 14 days Quarantine period for people coming from these eight hotspot districts. Subsequently, the people going back in 48 hours will be exempted from quarantine.
But the residents of this district going on work to these areas on return will be quarantined irrespective of the period of travel and stay. On the other hand this restriction will not apply to travel on Govt. and Court assignments if the officer will return back within 48 hours.
Laborers coming from these hotspot districts, will also be quarantined at the cost of the commercial establishment/Industries for 14 days before they start working at respective sites.
Additionally , Jharsuguda Administration has also declared shutdown of Raghunathpalli GP of Kolabira block for next seven days with immediate effect so as to enable us to undertake emergent measures for containment of COVID, where alone 23 Positive case has been reported on Wednesday.
Jharsuguda District Collector Saroj Kumar Samal said,” Our main objective is to restrict the movement of people even if Inter district travel is allowed still we request people of the district should not go out of home unless emergency.”
