Alliance Air to Starts its operation by 5th June

Jharsuguda : In a major relief for the air travellers of western Odisha, Alliance Air (A wholly Subsidiary of Air India) is likely to start its operation Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, Jharsuguda from 5th of June.

Earlier, Alliance Air had announced that the it will start its operation from 1st June but due to some reason, the date now has been postponed to 5th June 2019.

The airline will connect two �State capitals- Bhubaneswar and Raipur from the Veer Surendra Sai airport in Jharsuguda.

Jharsuguda VSS airport, Director, Sudesh Kumar Chauhan confirmed that “The airline’s company was awarded three routes- Bhubaneswar, Raipur and Kolkata under the Regional Connectivity (RCS) Udan scheme 3.0. Lots of government officials, employees and other corporate houses were eagerly waiting for the resumption of flights on these routes. The airline’s company has set up the necessary infrastructure and also started ticket bookings. Two days back we got information that the airline will start from 5th June, the exact reason is not known, it might be due to some administrative reason, the dates has been shifted.,� said Chauhan.

Chauhan further informed that Alliance Air shall operate ATR-72 type aircraft on these routes with a seating capacity for 72 passengers. On 5th June, the flight from Bhubaneswar will land at 11:00am and fly back after a stopover of 60 minutes to Bhubaneswar at 12:00am. Similarly, flight from Raipur will arrive Jharsuguda at 18:10pm and would again fly back to Raipur at 18:35pm. The flying time to both these capital cities i.e. Bhubaneswar and Raipur, from Jharsuguda will now take nearly an hour which otherwise takes nearly six to ten hours, if travelled by train.

Presently, Spicejet is the only airline company, which has been operating at Veer Surendra Sai Airport. The Airline has been successfully running with its direct flights for Delhi, Hyderabad andKolkata
