Om Shri Puja Committee, Sarbahal’s immersed Goddess Durga without any festive beat and procession following Amritsar Train Tragedy

Jharsuguda :�To pay tribute and condole the death of 59 victims who died on Friday evening, after a crowd of Dusshera revellers came under the train while witnessing the Ravan Dahan, standing on the railway track at Amritsar.� The Members of Om Shri Puja committee, Sarbahal of Jharsuguda muted their planned grand procession of Goddess Durga on Saturday immersed the Deity without any festive beats and colourful procession.

“In wake of yesterday’s incident took place at Amritsar, where several people who were run over by a train, while watching the Ravan Dahan, So we have decided to take out our procession in a very silent way. We have cancelled all our DJ and sound and light and have taken the deity and immersed it at the artificial pond made by the District Administration,” said Raghunandan Padhi, Advisor of Om Shri Puja Committee, Sarbahal

“After learning about the incident took place at Amritsar, Our Members of the Committee had unanimously decided to hold the procession in a low affair to mark our condolence to the victims and the injured. We had planned to conduct this procession in a very grand way with a budget of Rs. 2Lakh but we had cancelled all the festive beats.” �said Raju Panigrahi, President, Om Shri Puja Committee, Sarbahal

“It is very painful to hear that such big Incident took place on the eve of Vijay Dashmi, I think in future all Puja Committee and the Administration should take necessary precautions so that such incidents do not occur again,” he added
