DGCA has granted aerodrome licence to the Jharsuguda airport

Jharsuguda: Aviation regulator DGCA has granted aerodrome licence to the Jharsuguda airport, paving the way for much-awaited flight operations from the industrial town.

Confirming the development Jharsuguda Airport Director Loknath Padhi said that ” DGCA has granted a license to Jharsuguda Airport for public use after ensuring compliance with all relevant standards. The license is for operating of Category 2B type of aircraft mainly Aircraft with 18 Seaters. After, two months we will again apply license for category 4C i.e. Airbus A320 after the completion of Jharsuguda Main terminal.

The license was given after a team from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) carried out the final inspection of the new airport last month.

Now the Jharsuguda Airport, which is the second airport of Odisha, jointly developed by State Government and AAI, with the primary intent of connecting western Odisha with the rest of the states is set to be completed very soon.

In the first phase, the airport has been developed over 909 acres and 200 more acres will be added to it in the next phase, said an official.
