Demonstration against the Government for neglecting Jharsuguda Farmers
Jharsuguda: Hundreds of Jharsuguda District Congress activist on Tuesday had staged a peacefully demonstrated in-front of Collectorate office against the Government of Odisha’s negligence shown towards the farmers of Jharsuguda district and not declaring Jharsuguda district as Pest and drought affected district.
The members had shouted out slogan against the government and had demanded to include Jharsuguda District as the affected district as many farmers have their pocket due to the Pest and scanty rainfall.
In this regard, they had submitted a seven-point memorandum to Odisha Chief Minister of Odisha through Jharsuguda District Collector. Their demands were to declare Jharsuguda District as pest and draught affected District, Full compensation to the farmers of all the five Blocks of Jharsuguda affected by pest attack, Waiving out Loan to the farmers and compensation amounting to Rs.20000 per Acre to the affected farmer with input subsidy, Renovation and repair of Lift Irrigation points, Free distribution of seeds of Oil and Pulses to the farmers for the coming Rabi Season, Additional Financial assistance of Rs.500 per Quintal to the farmers in the form of bonus and re-estimate the crop loss in the district.
