Jharsuguda airport to be operational for Regional Connectivity Scheme – UDAAN by October this year

Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda airport will be operational by October this year. Jharsuguda Airport Director, Manoj Kumar stated that the target to complete the ongoing work to make Jharsuguda airport operational for Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAAN would complete by September 30th,2017.

“The entire construction work required for Regional Connectivity Scheme will be completed by 30th September 2017. However, the bidder for the RCS – UDAAN scheme Air Odisha would only know from when they will start the flight operation at Jharsuguda. �Till now we haven’t heard anything from the Air Odisha people at Jharsuguda office but they might be in contact with our headquarters.

For time being only 18 Seater plane will land under RCS – UDAAN Scheme. I am briefed that state government will be providing 39 security officials at this airport. ” �said Manoj Kumar, Jharsuguda Airport Director

“Till now the development work for the operations of Airbus A-320 is still in progress and we are happy to say that all work will be completed by 31st March 2018.� As the flight routes are generally decided by the concern flight operator after seeing the commercial viability, However, I think it may be Bhubaneswar-Jharsuguda-Delhi or Kolkata-Jharsuguda-Delhi and I even believe that if Vishakhapatnam is connected, then many people will be also benefitted.” he added

“We are very happy that our Jharsuguda airport will be getting operational by October. It will help all the people and Industries present at our district and adjoining areas. It would save a lot of time for the people going for a business trip as compared to a present situation where one has travel minimum six hours from Jharsuguda to reach the nearest airport present at Bhubaneswar, Raipur or Ranchi. In coming days, this airport will be best the second gateway of Odisha.” said Hira Lokchandani, President, Chamber of commerce
