Jumbo tramples mother and infant at Kadobahal Village Under Jharsuguda District

Jharsuguda :�A Tusker trampled a 23-year-old woman and her six days old infant child in the wee hours �of Saturday at Kadobahal Village under Jharsuguda District.
According to reports, a one tusker and two female elephant had been residing at Pithamal Jungle since two weeks, near to the Kadobahal Village, Yesterday night one tusker had entered into Kadobahal village at around 12:30 am early on Saturday and went on a rampage. Fearing for their lives, the family residing in a house had ran for safer hideouts but the woman carrying six days infant from the same family was caught in the middle. The tusker had trampled the woman and her infant to death.
The deceased identified as Sunita Dhara (23) and her six days infant. After getting information, Jharsuguda forest range officials of Jharsuguda forest division reached the spot. The bodies were sent for post-mortem.
�Family members of the deceased will be provided with compensation after completion of necessary formalities as per the provisions of the government. Since we have given Rs 10, 000 to the family members of deceased for their cremation, rest amount will be given to them after the completion of all formalities by them,� said Arjun Behera, Divisional Forest Officer, Jharsuguda forest division.
