Five arrested for motorcycle theft, 36 bikes seized

Jharsuguda Live -motorcylce thieves (2) Jharsuguda Live -motorcylce thieves (3)Jharsuguda : In a major breakthrough Jharsuguda Town Police on Saturday busted a motorcycle theft racket, arrested five gang members and seized 36 stolen bikes from them.

The gang comprised �five members and was involved in selling the stolen motorcycles at a reasonable price with fake documents. They had lifted the motorcycles from various areas of Jharsuguda like Vishal Mega Mart, Big Bazaar area, Railway Station, Friday Market area.

The arrested have been identified as Rajeeb Patel (32), resident of Village Baruguda, Barpalli, Dist. Bargarh, Somnath Thakur (28), resident of Daleipali , Barpali, Dist. Bargarh, Naresh Singh Chandal (25) Gupaipali, Barpali Dist. Bargarh, Mangal Bhol (45), resident of Kharmunda, Athabira, Dist. Bargarh, Babulal Chatria (40), Village Jharmunda , Laikera, Dist. Jharsuguda.

Jharsuguda SDPO B.K. Nanda said that, “Jharsuguda and neighboring areas had witness a surge in bike thefts past two years, in that context today we have nabbed the gangs involved in this racket and have seized 36 bikes which majorily includes Hero Honda bikes. We have arrested the main king pin of this racket Rajeeb Patel , a resident of Barpali, Bargarh. Rajeeb use to commit the crime and other four use to sell others with the help of fake documents prepared by Rajeeb. We have seized a laptop along with various fake documents from him.”

“Rajeeb had resorted to stealing motorcycles to get easy money. He use to roam in the town and identify busy streets. He would keep a watch on any person who parked his bike and went to work. All five of them will be forwarded to court under section 420, 468, 471 IPC on Saturday.” he added.
