Protesting Students bar Dist. Officials to conduct Laptop Distribution Programme
Jharsuguda: Students of Laxmi Narayan College on Friday barred District Administration and college officials to conduct Government Programme of Laptop Distribution under Biju Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana in its premises here.
The administration was forced to shift the venue to Jharsuguda Engineering School, where it had distributed laptops to the +2 meritorious student of the district after delay. In this distribution Brajrajnagar MLA Smt. Radharani Panda along with ADM Sitaram Patel, Tehsildar Bhavesh Nayak and Tahalu Sahu were present. The protesting students have been demanding transfer of land and building in the name of college. Last December, they had even called for a Jharsuguda Bandh in this regard.
�Laptop was to be distributed to the +2 students of the district, but being a govt. programme we have not allowed to take place and would not allow any government function in our college till our demand of transfer of Land and Building in College Name is fulfilled.� We will fight for this and would face any conscious.� Said Lalmohan Das, President, Student�s Union, L.N. College
Principal V.B. Singh, L.N. College, said that, �Students had being demanding that Govt. should declare Govt. College and transfer the land and Building in the name of College. Because of this the Administration had to shift the programme Biju Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana to Jharsuguda Engg. School. I have already reported this incident to the higher authorities like Director Higher Education, District Administration.�It will be only the students will suffer for that because it will be not only a great loss to them but a great loss to the institution also, so we will try to make them understand the value of these programme and try to conduct all govt. programmes in future.�
�All details regarding the college has been given to the Govt. and Govt. is been correctly examining it and at right time the decision will be taken on the Government level.� Said Jharsuguda ADM Sitaram Patel.
