Vedanta honours Martyr�s families on Republic Day
Jharsuguda: Vedanta Ltd (formerly known as Sesa Sterlite) had felicitated family members of six Martyrs of Indian Armed Forces from the Western Odisha region on the eve of 67th�Republic Day Celebration (Tuesday), who laid down their lives in line of duty. Lead by Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO-Aluminium Business, Vedanta Ltd. the company felicitated the families with a citation and a financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 to the families.
Families of six martyrs who were felicitated were Late Sourya Chakra Sepoy Durga Charan Oram of village Palkuda of Deogarh, Late Naik Blacious Alexender Kujur of village Olhen, Rourkela, Late Naik Karobin Tirkey of village Pindapatha near Birmitrapur, Late Lancenaik Kishore Chandra Mallik of village Shibtola, Bolangir, Late Sepoi Lotem Kerketa of village the Thaitang, Sundergarh and Late Subedar Braja Kishore Naik of village Nuapali of Laida, Sambalpur.
In this function the Commodore KK Panda (Retd.) was the chief guest along with the Abhijit Pati and eminent senior citizen of Jharsuguda as Guest and the members of various Social Organization were also present.
Mr. Abhijit Pati said �The nation stand obliged to the great sacrifice of the martyrs and their families and hence we dedicated this day to them. All measures should be put in place to secure the future of such families including reservation for such families which should be given top priority as a special category. He urged upon corporate world to join hands to support more such families to secure their future.�
Dassendri Toppo, wife of late Sourya Chakra winner Lt. Sepoy Durga Charn Oram said, �I could not believe that even after so many years have passed by, someone could knock at my door to felicitate my husband�s martyrdom by honouring me.� Nobody has done it like this before and I am touched by the recognition more the citation and the assistance given to me by Vedanta and I am thankful.� The same sentiment was echoed by other felicitated families.
