Protest by SDLIEA against the LIC Insurance (Amendment) Bill – 2008

Jharsuguda : The officers, development officers, employees and agents connected with the Indian public sector insurance industry staged a demonstration before the LIC divisional office in Jharsuguda on Monday.

They were protesting the Centre�s� move to increase the foreign direct investment (FDI) cap from the present 26 per cent to 49 per cent in the private insurance companies doing business in India, and also against selling stakes in the four public sector general insurance companies to the general public.

In this protest meeting, the president Arun Kumar Chaini of Sambalpur Division Life Insurance Employees Association had presided the meeting along with Tapas Ray Choudhary, Ananth of Lokmukti Sanghatan, Odisha R.M.S. Pension committee’s member Niranjan Dasand etc were also present

Secretary of SDLIEA, Ratnakar Pradhan said “LIC is one of the biggest Insurance Company of India and Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru had announced its formation in the year 1956. NDA led Government is playing with all the people�concerned with the nationalised insurance sector, security of the people�s savings, infrastructure and social sector growth of Indian economy.”
