SESA STERLITE HOSTS �UDBHAV-2014�- ODISHA HR CONCLAVE AT JHARSUGUDA
Jharsuguda: – 5TH JULY 2014 �:�UDBHAV -2014, Odisha Human Resource Conclave was organized by Sesa�Sterlite Ltd. Jharsuguda in its premise which was the first of its�kind organized by any industrial house to bring together the synergic�strength of corporate and industrial houses of Odisha to one platform,�in order to initiate a discussion on how to leverage their collective�potential for the development of human resource of Odisha and society�at large. The theme of the workshop was �HR alignment with business�.�
The one day conclave was attended by around 200 representatives of 40�industrial, corporate houses and academic institutions which included�apex management and HR personnel of the respective institutes and�industries. Present on the occasion were Chief Guest Dr. Pramod Kumar�Meherda , IAS, Revenue Divisional Commissioner ,Northern Range,�Odisha, Guest of Honour Mrs. Guha Punam Tapas Kumar, IAS, District�Magistrate and Collector Jharsuguda, Mr. G.S.Prashad, Chief Executive�Officer, Rourkela Steel Plant , Mr. Abhijit Pati, President & Chief�Operating Officer, Sesa Sterlite Jharsuguda as key note speakers�hosted by Dr. Rajeev Nayan, Head- Business HR( Power and Aluminium ),�Sesa Sterlite Ltd.
Felicitated on the occasion for their outstanding contribution to�human resource development in the state were Mr.Umesh Hota from�Hindalco Industries, Mr S.K. Mohapatra from JSPL, Mr C.K.Poddar from�Neelanchal Ispat Migam Limited, Mr. Ranjan Kumar Behera, Deputy Labour�Commissioner, Govt of. Odisha. Dr. Pramod Meherda, Mrs. Punam Guha and�Mr. G.S.Prasad were also felicitated by the HR fraternity for being�with them.
Dr.Meherda appreciated the step taken by Sesa Sterlite to bring the�entire HR fraternity to one forum and urged other industries to
emulate the same. In his key note speech stressed on inter industry�cooperation to address issues relating to human resource, effective�engagement and employment while Mrs. Guha expressed her desire to see�a strengthened women empowerment process in business houses. Mr.�Prasad opined that business not only should create employable�opportunity but also generate ample opportunity for alternative�engagements through capacity building and developing entrepreneurship�capability of people.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pati stressed that the mantra of�developing human resource is vested in investing in education as it
leads to better understanding of enterprise development which in turn�will augur fruitful and effective engagement. Hence, industrial�fraternity must invest in education.�
The key participants in technical sessions were Mr. Umesh Hota from�Hindalco, Ms. Bobby Patnaik from Infosys, Mr S.K.Mohapatra from JSPL�and Mr. N.K.Ojha from Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd., besides other�participants in panel discussion on various subjects related to HR.
Other major industries who has participated in this conclave are MCL,�NALCO, OPGC, TRL Korosaki, TATA, JSPL, Concast, Bhushan, MSP, Aditya�Bilra Group, OPTCL, GRIDCO, and institution like IMI, Utkal�University, and BIMTECH etc. �It was unanimously resolved by the�industrial fraternity to take this effort forward and the effort was�lauded for its purpose.
