Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda Police on Monday late evening arrested a fake police inspector from Sarbahal area of Jharsuguda.
The accused was identified as Santanu Kumar Pradhan (35), a resident of Kendrapara. Presently, working as a sales executive in a Pvt. Firm in Rourkela and use to visit Jharsuguda.
According to police sources, based on the complaint filed by the complainant Advocate Prasanta Mishra, On 28th May 2014, the accuse Santanu Kumar Pradhan had followed his tenant Amit Kumar Shukla, an Engineer, working with Aditya Birla, when he and his wife had gone for marketing. Santanu, had stopped the couple near bus stand and had asked details from the couples, like name, address,vehicle number etc. He even took their mobile numbers, when Amit questioned, why they were being asked such details.
The accuse, Santanu identified himself as Rohit Samantray, a newly appointed police officer at Jharsuguda Town Police Station, and the details were asked in connection with an investigation done regarding robbery and murder case. After that, he even followed the couple till their house.
Sensing something fishy, Amit had informed this incident to his landlord advocate Prasanta Mishra, later Prasanta Mishra found that there is no new appointments at Jharsuguda Town Police Station and had contacted Santanu on his number but then he declined to be identified as Rohit and disconnected the cell, but on 21st June, Santanu had called the advocate and abused and threatened him. After which the advocate had lodged an FIR at Jharsuguda Town Police station against the accused.
Jharsuguda Town Police Station, IIC Nirmal Mohapatra said that, “The accuse Santanu Pradhan, has been arrested and forwarded to court under section 419,294,506 IPC.”
