Jharsuguda: The 12 hour bandh called by the CAC on Thursday threw life out of gear as hundreds of lawyers of Jharsuguda District Bar Association took to the streets and blocked all connecting roads to district headquarters, including the State Highway 10, in demand for the establishment of high court bench in western Odisha.
There was no vehicular movement on SH-10 and NH-49 since Thursday morning. Passenger buses, other vehicles and long route goods trucks did not ply, while most shops , schools and business establishments remained closed.
Passengers of Samleshwari Express were lying stranded at Jharsuguda railway station, as the train was announced cancelled. The Passenger had protested against the announcement and had small scuffle with Jharsuguda Station Manager Sunil Chakraborty. However, the issue came down when an alternative train was arranged for the passenger going ahead.
Jharsuguda Dist. Bar President, Dinesh Jain said that, The bandh was a success, even the Vice – chairman election in Laikera Block which was scheduled today was not allowed as the Block Office was completely paralyzed by the agitating advocates.
