Jharsuguda: A Rally was organized by Jharsuguda Youth Congress Unit led by the President Benugopal Panigrahi, Gen. Secretary Sonu Kumar along with many displaced vendors from LIC Office to Collectorate. In this they Congress Party today have submitted a memorandum to the Dist. Collector for rehabilitation of the roadside vendors who had been evicted in recent eviction of illegal encroachment drive by the Dist. Administration.
Youth President Raju Panigrahi said that �Dist. Administration who had recently evicted the road side vendor just before the festival season, but without any protest the roadside vendors had supported it. After that they were expecting help of Dist. Administration, who had assured them for creating some sort of vendor zone in Jharsuguda. Vendors have also met with RDC & collector in this regards but it was seems that administration are delaying the process. Failing to get response from administration, Today Youth Congress has taken initiative and has submitted a memorandum to the Collector for immediate rehabilitation of the vendors.
ADM, Rabindranath Mishra said that �The recent eviction drive which was carried by the Dist. Administration in which even the roadside vendors have supported us and now at present almost 1 month has been past. So, now the displaced roadside vendors want immediate action on this issue. In this regard even Dist. Administration has called in an emergency meeting at 3.P.M. in which this issue would be discussed and finalized.
In this protest Rally, Asish Sharma , Bunty Mullick , Manit yadav, Nikhil Pattnaik, Kashi Sharma along with several vendors were present in this protest
At 3 P.M. Meeting was held at Municipality Hall where the Executive Officer Mr. Sriniwas, Jharsuguda MLA, Naba Kishore Das along with various ward members and vendors representative were present. In this meeting, everyone were asked to put in their suggestion for creation of vendor zone in Jharsuguda, few places were identified in this meetings but the place where yet to be finalized. Finally it was decided that within 15 days places would be identified and finalized.
But the vendors have suggested that if the administration allows them to start their shop temporally at the same place by writing an undertaking till the finalization of vendor zone.
